Preparing for the Hallway of Mirrors Fashion Show in Austin was one of the highlights of our year. At SITA Couture, runway shows are about far more than garments—they are where design, craftsmanship, culture, and storytelling come together.
We were especially excited to debut pieces from the Miguel Angel Collection, named in honor of my father. While the full collection was still in development, our samples were ready, and in fashion, that is often where the magic begins. The custom trims my father and I sourced together in Uruapan, Mexico had finally arrived, and seeing them incorporated into our first men's dress shirts felt like the beginning of something special.
The plan was simple: pack the collection, hit the road, and make an adventure of the journey to Austin. Along the way, we hoped to explore small towns, visit Indigenous communities, and gather inspiration for future collections—including ideas for our summer hat designs. As any designer knows, inspiration is often found far from the studio.
Then life changed overnight.
Just before the November 22, 2025 Hallway of Mirrors Fashion Show, my mother suffered a severe cerebral stroke. In a matter of hours, everything shifted. Fashion shows, travel plans, and production schedules suddenly became secondary as our family focused on her care and recovery.
We made the difficult decision not to attend.
Yet something remarkable happened.
The show went on.
Hosted by the incredible Truth & Justice League in Austin, the event brought together fashion, art, music, philanthropy, and cultural celebration in a way that perfectly reflected the spirit of creative community. Indigenous leaders, artists, musicians, speakers, and supporters gathered to share their work, traditions, and vision for a better future.
Although we could not be there in person, our collection was.
The menswear pieces walked the runway beautifully, brought to life by an outstanding cast of models and a dedicated team who carried the vision forward. Watching the footage afterward was both emotional and inspiring. The garments moved exactly as we had hoped, proving that great design ultimately belongs to the people who wear it and the stories it tells.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Kelly Shaw, who traveled from Santa Fe to help lead the event, and to Cassandra Noeoba, founder of Naked Roots, for overseeing model casting. Their professionalism, generosity, and belief in the collection helped make the evening a success.
One of the most rewarding moments was seeing the Miguel Angel Collection connect with audiences. What began as sketches, fabric swatches, and conversations between a daughter and her father became a living collection on the runway—a tribute to heritage, craftsmanship, and the enduring influence of family.
This experience reminded us that fashion is never just about clothing. It is about people. It is about resilience. It is about preserving stories, honoring culture, and creating beauty even during life's most difficult moments.
We are proud to collaborate with Truth & Justice League, founded by Mark Mueller, whose mission is to inform, inspire, connect, and empower people around issues affecting health, the environment, human freedom, and social responsibility. Their commitment to meaningful change aligns with many of the values that inspire our work at SITA Couture.
Most of all, we are grateful—to the models who walked the runway, to the team who made the event possible, and to everyone who supported the collection from afar.
The show went on.
And in many ways, that made it even more meaningful.
Stay tuned: select Truth & Justice League artwork and jewelry, reflecting the spirit and values of this remarkable collective, will soon be available through SITA Couture.
